Q+A WITH DR. LAIN

We’re back with Dr. Lain, a SkinCeuticals Partner Physician, to answer more skincare questions and drop some key info on SkinCeuticals latest product the Phyto A+ Brightening Treatment. I am also going to walk y’all through the hydrafacial I got with Kaitlin using SkinCeuticals products!

THE Q+A.

-What is the new Phyto A+ Brightening Treatment?

This product contains Phyto Botanical Blend which helps decrease inflammation and reduce redness. They’ve added in additional ingredients to this product to help decrease discoloration, reduce fine lines and pores as well as firmer-looking skin. It takes all the best ingredients from the Phyto Botanical Blend and kicks them up a notch by adding 3% Azelaic Acid, 2% Alpha Arbutin making it a multipurpose product. This product is a lightweight moisturizer that can be used twice a day. It’s really great for people with sensitive skin that want to add exfoliants to their routine.

This daily corrective treatment visibly reduces excess oil and redness, while smoothing skin and minimizing the appearance of pores for enhanced clarity and brightness.

-Who is this product good for?

Everyone! Really– dry, normal, oily, combo, and especially sensitive skin. This product targets dehydration, sensitization, discoloration, and dull acne-prone skin. It’s a lightweight oil-free moisturizer that pairs active ingredients with ingredients that will immediately calm the skin.

This is also a great product for those who are starting retinol.

-Where would this product go in your skincare routine?

AM: Cleanse, C E Ferulic (or other antioxidants), H.A. Intensifier, then add this product and top it all with your sunscreen.

PM: Cleanse, Antioxidants (we love H.A. Intensifier and Resveratrol B E), Retinol, Phyto A+ Brightening Treatment.

If you have very sensitive skin you can place the retinol after the Phyto A+ Brightening Treatment and if you have very dry skin add the Emollience on top before going to bed.

-How do I combat dull skin?

Add retinol! Start with the lowest dose –  and build up your usage. Also, add the Phyto A+ Brightening Treatment to your routine as your daily oil-free moisturizer.

-How should I begin to add Retinol into my routine?

I recommend starting by using it 2-3 times a week and building up to using it once every night. If your skin is sensitive you can apply retinol over your moisturizer (the Phyto A+ in this case).

-What would be your #1 tip to someone getting into skincare?

Don’t overdo it. Keep it simple and don’t incorporate too many exfoliating products at one time.

THE HYDRAFACIAL.

A hydrafacial is a 4-step process that exfoliates and hydrates your skin leaving it looking glowy. Kaitlin started by using the SkinCeuticals Replenishing Cleanser to wash my face and prep it for the facial. This cleanser is great at cleansing the skin without stripping it.

Step 1 – Kaitlin with the hydrafacial vortex tool to exfoliate my skin. This helps resurface the skin and get it ready to receive the chemical peel the best.

Step 2 – Kaitlin then used the Skinceuticals sensitive skin peel to exfoliate my skin further.

Step 3 – After the exfoliation, she used the vortex tool to do extractions in my T-zone / most congested areas.

Step 4 – Kaitlin ended the facial by applying a hyaluronic serum followed by a daytime skincare routine. I’ll list the products she used below!

1 – Phloretin CF

2 – Phyto Corrective Gel

3 –  A.G.E Eye Complex

4 –  Phyto A + Brightening Treatment

5 –  Antioxidant Lip Repair

6 –  Physical Fusion SPF 50+ mixed with the Daily Moisture Moisturizer
