SPRING CLOSET CLEAN

DSC09271

Happy Monday! Tay came in town for my dress fitting this weekend and we had so much fun. Before my fitting, we met friends at Rise for lunch and my oh my, it totally lived up to the hype… the soufflés were ahh-mazing. We got to my fitting, all four of my bridesmaids could come (which was so special), Jayna brought the cutest single champagnes and we celebrated. It was a really special moment that I must say went wayyy too fast! With marriage less than a month and a half away, spring in the air, and my best friend in town, it was time for a major closet clean. Out with the old and in the with new. Cleaning out your closest is one of those things that can be both exciting and very overwhelming. Walking into a closet with only things you love is a wonderful thing, but getting there can be a daunting task. Here are a few tips that made the great closet clean a very enjoyable night.

1. Enlist a friend

This is KEY. There is no way I would have been as productive without Taylor there to help me. If you’re anything like me, there are a few articles of clothing that are only in your closet because they have some kind of sentimental value. These are the kind of things that  with a little convincing, your best friend can pry from your hands and fling into the give away pile. Let’s just say my closet is officially Juicy suit free. I know, I know… it’s embarrassing, but you know you had them too.

2. Pop open a bottle of wine

Have fun with it! Pour yourselves some wine and get to work.

3. Take a trip down memory lane

Who knew cleaning out my closet could be so fun? We had the best time, laughing at pieces that we remembered and kissing them goodbye before they made there way to the give away pile.

4. The costume pile

Tay suggested this and I loved the idea – keep a few things that you could wear to potential future costumes.

5. Embrace the fresh start

Assess where you are in life. Evaluate what you do and what you want to keep vs. let go. If you haven’t worn something in over a year, it could be that time sista!

6. Organize

The final step! We decided to put my very dressy stuff more towards the back and my day to day stuff in the front. Organize your closet in a way that makes sense for your life.
