I have a major case of the Mondays today! One of those, don’t want to get out of bed because it’s cold and the fun weekend went by too fast, kind of Mondays. We barely made it back to Dallas {due to the approaching snowstorm in New York} yesterday but I’m so thankful that we did! Friday we left in nice weather and yesterday we came home to sleet! What did I tell you about this Texas whether… never a dull moment. Ok, let’s get to the makeup! This is a trick that I use almost every time I do my makeup. Just like it sounds, smoking out your lower lash line is all about blending, aka. smoking it out. You can do this with a natural eye, like I did for this tutorial, or with a really intense, dark smokey eye. This easy trick can make all the difference and is a must in every girls makeup toolbox.
What you’ll need
- Pencil brush {shown in the above picture} Tip – If you don’t have a pencil brush, you can use a q-tip!
- Eye shadow or eye coal/pencil
1. Pick your color
Like I mentioned above, you can do this in a natural way or really smoke it out with black to pull together a smokey night eye look. I’m using “taupe” from my current favorite palette, the Lorac Pro palette.
2. Apply shadow
Tap your pencil brush or q-tip into the eyeshadow and apply it to the lower lash line. Start on the outside of your eye and work your way in. Tip – If you are using a dark color like black, take your time and try tapping the color into the lash line with a pushing motion to avoid fall out under your eye!
3. Smoke it out
Ok, here we go! The key to smoking out the lower lash line is to blend. Blend back and forth until you have no harsh lines or edges. Some shadows are easier to blend than others, so take your time and be patient!
Who’s excited to try this? 🙂
