Ahh the elusive milk supply. Too much, not enough, can my boobs just get the memo already? Luckily, I have found what works for me thought it may be helpful to share for all of you mamas out there.
I know not everyone is able to breastfeed, so just want to say a quick disclaimer that a fed baby is the best baby – ha! Whatever you need to do to make it happen, you do you mama.
But for those who are breastfeeding, I’ve learned a few things along the way and am hoping they help.
Keeping you milk supply up takes a bit or work but has been totally doable so far. I thought it would be helpful to break it up into my three top tips…
One.
My first and most important tip is DRINK WATER. I can’t say this enough, really for anyone but especially breastfeeding babes. Water is amazing for you skin and will absolutely help you supply.
Two.
Pump! Kinsley sleeps though the night – 7pm to 7am, but I still pump every night at 10pm and 2am. Why? Well, two reasons really – first, it helps increase supply! I even started pumping for a few minutes right after I feed her at 6:30ish and while I don’t get much, I have noticed an increase in the 10pm supply! Secondly, I use what I pump at the 10pm time to top her off (after I feed her from the breast) before bed. I’ve found that that added 3 or so ounces helps her go through the night.
Three.
Milk balls! This is my go-to recipe. I don’t have a set amount I eat, just sort of depends on the day.
