As a beauty blogger, let’s just say that my makeup collection is… extensive. It’s my job to try new products, find the best, eliminate the worst and of course share with you all! Since I’m constantly trying new products, it’s easy for the ‘good’ ones to get pushed to the back of my lucite drawers and the fresh and new to takeover. However, no matter how many new things I try, there are a few GREAT beauty buys that I continue to repurchase. Ones that I find myself reaching for on a daily basis and ones that no other products have yet to replace. Today, I thought it would be fun to share my all-time, must-have beauty buys that every girl needs.
1 // THE BEAUTY BLENDER
Small but mighty, the beauty blender is one of my all-time favorite tools. I’ve been using it for upwards of 5 years now and I can’t (or at least wouldn’t want to) do my makeup with it. I use it for just about everything: foundation, concealer, powder used to set my concealer, cream bronzer and the list could go in.
I like to clean my beauty blender after every use with this cleanser. I’ve tried both the liquid and the solid, but the solid is way better in my opinion. I also use this cleanser to clean all of my makeup brushes as well and since it’s a solid, it’s travel friendly which is a total plus!
BYOB Tip: Make sure that you use your beauty blender damp! Hold the sponge under your facet, squeeze a few times until it feels with water. Then squeeze the water out in a towel, leaving the sponge damp (not wet). This will apply the product best!
2 // TARTE SHAPE TAPE CONCEALER
I’m sure you’ve heard a million people rave about this concealer, but you can believe the hype – this stuff is the bomb! It’s super full coverage but doesn’t feel heavy or cakey and lasts all day long. They also have a huge range of colors, so there is something for every skin tone and needed undertone! I’ve had a variety of colors, but I’m currently using shade “light-medium honey” and love it.
3 // THE PERFECT NEUTRAL BLUSH
I only took one blush on me weekend getaway to Boston and it was this one in the shade “First Love”, because it’s all I needed! It’s perfect for day or night and goes with every look imaginable. I love how neutral and versatile it is and I think it would flatter so many different skin tones and colorings.
4 // MAGICAL LASH PRIMER
One of the questions I get asked most frequently is – how do I get my lashes so long? Now, I will say that I have been blessed in the long lash department, but I do have something that makes ALL the difference in the world. Even though my lashes are naturally long, when I don’t use a primer I can tell a major difference. My favorite are this one (higher-end) and this one for a more affordable option. I’ve found that using a lash primer really gives the mascara something to grab onto, making the lashes thicker and longer.
BYOB Tip: Apply the primer and then let is set for about 30-45 seconds, until it gets a little tacky. Timing is everything here! If doesn’t have to be exact, but the key is just to make sure it’s not totally wet or totally dry. When it’s too wet, the mascara will just mix in with the primer and the primer can’t do its job and when it’s too dry, it applies stiff and you don’t get those long and fluffy looking lashes.
5 // YOUR SKIN BUT BETTER (SO TRUE) CC CREAM
Not everyday is a foundation day. Most days I want my skin to look even and fresh, but don’t want to do a full face and on days like that, this CC cream is the best! If you’ve been following along for a while, then you probably remembered that this is basically all I wore all summer long and I’m back at it again. I can’t put it down! It has amazing coverage for a CC cream (JUST the right amount in my opinion), SPF 50 and is formatted with anti-aging properties. I’ve tired a bunch of CC creams, and none even come close to this one. If you’re curious, I’m in shade medium in the winter!
BYOB Tip: A little bit goes a long way so you don’t need much! I like to apply it with my fingers and then lightly go over everything to make sure it’s blended seamlessly with my beauty blender.
6 // DAY & NIGHT MOISTURIZER
I’ve tried many moisturized and this one remains my favorite. It hydrates and sinks into my skin but also lays perfectly under makeup!
